Product Information
- 1-(4-Fluoro-3-Methylphenyl)Ethanone
- 4'-Fluoro-3'-methylacetophenone
1-(4-fluoro-3-methylphenyl)ethanone (FMET) is a carboxylate that can be produced by acylation of the corresponding acid with an alcohol. It can also be synthesized by solubilizing the corresponding salt in a solvent, followed by reaction with benzoic acid. This product has been used as a substrate for the synthesis of ligands for HMG-CoA reductase, which is an enzyme involved in cholesterol production. FMET has been shown to have a number of functional groups, including hydroxyl, carboxylate, and carbonyl groups.
The yield of this reaction is dependent on the reaction conditions used. The FMET carboxylic acid form is insoluble in water and methanol, but soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform or ethers.
