- 1-Fluoro-4-Methyl-2-Nitrobenzene
4-fluoro-3-nitrotoluene is a yellowish solid with a melting point of 129°C. It is soluble in organic solvents and reacts with most oxidizing agents, bases, and acids. 4-fluoro-3-nitrotoluene has intramolecular hydrogen bonding between the amine group and the nitro group. This amide exhibits resonance in its NMR spectra due to the presence of an internal hydrogen atom. The proton resonances can be observed at 6.2 ppm and the methylene protons at 2.5 ppm. There are no observable resonances for the nitrogen atoms. The chemical shift values vary from -1 to +4 parts per million (ppm). 4-fluoro-3-nitrotoluene does not have any aromatic rings or unsaturation, which makes it traceless in thin layer chromatography (TLC) analysis. The IR spectrum shows that this compound does not
