7-Fluoroquinolin-8-ol is a fungitoxic agent that inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, a sterol found in fungi and other organisms, by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase. 7-Fluoroquinolin-8-ol has been shown to have synergism with l-cysteine and dextrose against Trichophyton mentagrophytes. It also has minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) against Mucor racemosus and Mucor circinelloides. 7-Fluoroquinolin-8-ol has potentiation effects on the toxicities of several toxicants such as benzene, formaldehyde, and acetaminophen.
