Description:

6-Fluoro-2(3H)-benzothiazolone is a herbicide that has been shown to be phytotoxic. It is applied as a preplant treatment and postharvest treatment, as well as a foliar spray. The herbicidal activity of 6-fluoro-2(3H)-benzothiazolone is due to the inhibition of photosynthesis by binding to the chlorophyll present in plant cells. This activity was shown using ethyl acetate, alkynyl, cyanoalkyl, alkenyl, nitrating, and expressed leaves from plants. 6-Fluoro-2(3H)-benzothiazolone also inhibits protein synthesis in plants and can be used for weed control.
