2-fluoro-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile (2F-TFB) is a fluorinating agent with industrial uses. It is a reaction product of hydroxylamine and chloride, which can be hydrolyzed to form hydrochloric acid. 2F-TFB reacts with fluorine gas to form the compound 2-fluoro-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzofuran. This compound can be used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and perfumes.
