3-fluoro-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde is an organic compound that is used in the synthesis of other chemicals. It is a flammable, colorless to white solid, soluble in alcohols and ethers. The industrial route entails diazotizing benzonitrile with hydrochloric acid and then reacting the resulting 3-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile with hydroxylamine to yield 3-fluoro-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde. This chemical has been shown to have virulent properties when tested on mice and rabbits.
