Product Information
- Benzeneacetic acid, 2-fluoro-5-nitro-
- 2-Fluoro-5-Nitrophenylacetic Acid
2-(2-Fluoro-5-nitrophenyl)acetic acid is an organic compound that has been synthesized by intramolecular cyclization of a 2-fluoroalkyl acetonitrile with an azide. The molecule has the general formula of RC(O)N=NOH, where R represents the alkyl group and the nitro group is attached to the carbon atom. This process involves two elimination reactions, one reaction in which a water molecule is eliminated and a second reaction in which a molecule of ammonia is eliminated. The macrocyclic ring features two betaine groups (ROCONH). These are found in many naturally occurring compounds such as asparagine, and azides. The conformation of this molecule was simulated using molecular dynamics simulations. It has been hypothesized that it will have anti-inflammatory properties due to its macrocyclic structure and its ability to bind to proteins and inhibit protein synthesis.
