2-Fluoro-4-iodo-1-methoxybenzene (2FIOMB) is a diarylalkyne that has been used in the synthesis of combretastatin A-4. The labile nature of 2FIOMB makes it unsuitable for use as an anticancer drug. Regioselective ortho-substitution at the 4 position of the benzene ring occurs during the preparation of 2FIOMB, yielding a mixture of regioisomers.
