Description:
2-Fluoro-4-methoxyphenylboronic acid (2FMOBA) is a chemical compound that is a flavanone. It is an allosteric modulator of metabotropic glutamate receptors which have been implicated in the pathogenesis of depression and other neurodegenerative diseases. 2FMOBA has been used as a probe for the uptake of glutamate in the brain, and has shown antidepressant effects in animal models. The pharmacological activity of 2FMOBA may be due to its ability to inhibit the efflux pump.
