Description:
9-[(4-fluoro)-3-hydroxymethylbutyl]guanine (9FHBG) is a small molecule that has been shown to have antitumor activity. It is an optical imaging probe and can be used for the detection of subcutaneous tumors by monitoring for the accumulation of 9FHBG in tumor tissue. This compound has also been shown to have biological properties, such as being a hyperproliferative disease model system, which may make it useful for in vitro assays. 9FHBG binds to DNA polymerase and inhibits DNA synthesis, thereby leading to cell death. The binding affinity of 9FHBG was determined using monoclonal antibodies and optical imaging probes. The pharmacokinetics of this drug have been studied in humans and mice with breast cancer models.
