3-(2-Furyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-amine is a pharmacological agent that is used in the treatment of pulmonary hypertension. It has a nitric oxide donor activity and can be synthesized using 2-furyl nitration. This compound has been shown to inhibit adenosine receptors and block adenosine signaling. 3-(2-Furyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-amine has affinity for the A1 receptor with an IC50 of 0.5 μM and inhibits adenosine binding with an IC50 of 1 μM.
This drug also has a high degree of specificity for A2A receptors with an IC50 of 5 μM. 3-(2-Furyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-amine is active in vivo as well as in vitro.
