Description

N-(2-Furylmethyl)-2-hydroxybenzamide is an intramolecular amide, which is synthesized through a metal-catalyzed process. This compound has been shown to be able to undergo functionalization reactions and can be used in the synthesis of target compounds. N-(2-Furylmethyl)-2-hydroxybenzamide has been shown to have anti-proliferative activity against human breast cancer cells (MCF-7) with an IC50 of 3 μM. The mechanism of this drug's effect on cell proliferation is thought to involve radical formation from nitrogen atoms.
