1-(2-Furyl)-N-(2-furylmethyl)methanamine hydrochloride is a homogeneous catalyst that is used in the synthesis of carbon disulphide and aryl halides. It is reactive with hydroxyl groups, which may be due to the presence of an electron-donating group on the phenyl ring. The inhibition potential for 1-(2-Furyl)-N-(2-furylmethyl)methanamine hydrochloride has been determined to be -0.06 volts. This chemical can also be used as a thermally activated catalyst in organic reactions, such as etherification and amination.
