6-Fluoropyridine-3-boronic acid is a synthetic compound that can be synthesized from 6-fluoroquinoline and boron trifluoride. It has been shown to react with 3-bromoquinoline in the presence of potassium carbonate to form a new quinoline derivative. This compound exhibits fluorescence in the range of 590-620 nm. The yield of this reaction is dependent on the amount of catalyst used and ranges from 60% to 90%.
The synthesis of 6-fluoropyridine-3-boronic acid was accomplished using cross coupling techniques. Parameters such as temperature, solvent, base, and reaction time were varied in order to find the optimal conditions for this synthesis. The yields ranged from 20% to 60%.
The x-ray crystal structures for 6-fluoropyridine-3-boronic acid have been determined at 2 different synchrotron facilities
