5-Fluoro-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine is a structural analog of pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine. It is an inhibitor of circovirus replication. 5-Fluoro-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of heart cells in culture and infection with colistin resistant bacteria. This compound also inhibits the production of polypeptides in cell culture. The effect on enzyme activity is not well understood, but it has been shown to have a negative effect on fatty acid metabolism in chronic kidney disease patients.
