FIIN-3 is a potent, covalent inhibitor of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) enzyme. PI3K plays an important role in cancer cell growth and survival by mediating the proliferation of tumor cells and their adaptation to chronic exposure to growth factors. FIIN-3 inhibits the activity of PI3K, thereby inhibiting the downstream signaling pathways that promote cancer cell growth and survival. FIIN-3 has been shown to be active against bladder cancer cells in vitro, but has not yet been studied for use in humans.
