(9H-Fluoren-9-yl)methyl2,4-dichloro-7,8-dihydropyrido[4,3-d]pyrimidine-6(5H)-carboxylate is a prodrug that is metabolized to the active form of the drug, 9-[(fluorenylmethoxy)carbonyl]-2,4-dichloro-7,8-dihydropyrido[4,3-d]pyrimidine. This compound binds to receptors in the pancreas and gastrointestinal tract and reduces gastric acid secretion. It also has significant binding to receptors in the nervous system.
