Description:

9H-Fluorene-2,7-diol,9-methyl is a hydrogenated product of 9H-fluorene. It is a colorless solid with a melting point of 138°C. The reaction solvent used in this procedure is ethanol and the temperature is set at -40°C to 100°C. The product was recrystallized using ethyl acetate and the color of the final product was light yellow. Hydrogenation was carried out using palladium on charcoal and the yield of 9H-fluorene-2,7-diol,9-methyl was determined to be 95%.
