4-Fluoroindole-2-boronic acid pinacol ester is a non-nucleoside inhibitor of the viral polymerase, which inhibits the replication of hepatitis B virus. It has been shown to have low oral bioavailability and is not suitable for use in humans. 4FIBAB is a tetracyclic molecule that can be used to screen for allosteric inhibitors of NS5B polymerase. This compound has been shown to be active against benzofurans and may have potential as a drug candidate against Hepatitis C virus.
