Product Information
- ZM 240401(3R,4R,5S,6S)-6-Fluoro-3,4,5-trihydroxy-1-cyclohexene-1-carboxylic acid
6-Fluoroshikimic acid is a chorismate inhibitor that inhibits the shikimate pathway, which is an important metabolic pathway in bacteria. This compound was shown to be effective against tuberculosis, with a minimum inhibitory concentration of less than 1 μM. 6-Fluoroshikimic acid binds to the enzyme enantiopure, which catalyzes the conversion of chorismate into shikimate. 6-Fluoroshikimic acid also has antimicrobial properties that may be due to its ability to inhibit bacterial gene product synthesis and substrate binding.
