Description:
Fura 2-AM is a fluorescent dye that binds to calcium ions. It is used as a model system for studying the effects of intracellular calcium ions. Fura 2-AM has been shown to increase cytosolic calcium levels in response to glutamate and other agonists, which may be due to its ability to bind with high affinity to the 2-adrenergic receptor. This agent also increases mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibits polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
