Naloxol is a drug that is used in the treatment of opioid overdose. It prevents the binding of opioid drugs to their receptors, which blocks their effects. Naloxol has been shown to be effective in inhibiting cancer cell growth and has high efficiency in uptake and biodistribution studies. The drug also has high affinity for a specific receptor subtype that is involved in peptide signaling, with concomitant inhibition of downstream signaling pathways. This drug can be used therapeutically as a bispecific agent for the treatment of neuropathic pain by blocking two different receptors simultaneously. Naloxol binds to neuropeptide Y (NPY) and substance P (SP) receptors on neurons, blocking NPY-induced increases in intracellular calcium concentration, leading to reduced pain perception.
