Fluazolate is a growth regulator that inhibits the biosynthesis of fatty acids in plants. It is used as a chemical pesticide and synergistically interacts with glyphosate. Fluazolate may be applied to plant tissue to control the growth of weeds, but it is not effective against fruit trees. The effective dose for fluazolate is 0.5-10 grams per hectare, and its activity has been shown to be synergistic with glyphosate when applied to plant tissue. Fluazolate inhibits lipid biosynthesis by inhibiting the enzyme acyl-CoA:diacylglycerol acyltransferase (ACDAT) and also has an inhibitory effect on the enzymes involved in fatty acid synthesis.
