The tautomeric form of this compound is the 1H-imidazole and it can be synthesized from a diazonium salt. 4-Fluoro-1H-imidazole can also be used as an analog for protonated imidazoles, which are found in DNA and RNA synthesis. 4-Fluoro-1H-imidazole has been observed to have a molecular weight of 198.4 g/mol and absorbs at a wavelength of 288 nm.
