4-Fluoroanisole is a molecule that has the chemical formula C6H5F2O. It is a colorless liquid with a mild odor. This compound can be synthesized from hydrogen fluoride and an aromatic amine. 4-Fluoroanisole reacts with diazonium salts to produce diazonium fluorides, which are hydrogen halides that contain the nitrogen of the aromatic amine. The x-ray crystal structure of this molecule has been determined to be orthorhombic, space group Pbca, with cell dimensions a = 7.8 Å, b = 7.9 Å, c = 8.0 Å, α = 90°, β = 116°, γ = 90° and Z = 4. Hydrogen bonds form between the fluorine atoms and the carbonyl oxygen atoms in the phenyl ring and between the fluorine atom and nitrogen atom in the pyridinium ring
