2-Fluoro-4-nitro-benzonitrile is a chemical with industrial applications. It is used as an intermediate in the production of dioxane and thioglycolate. 2-Fluoro-4-nitro-benzonitrile is electron deficient, which makes it a good candidate for radiation chemistry. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of kallikrein, an enzyme that degrades kinins and other peptides. 2-Fluoro-4-nitro-benzonitrile also has been shown to inhibit the activity of various kinases, including protein kinase C (PKC) and tyrosine kinase. This inhibition may be due to its ability to bind to the phosphate groups in these enzymes and prevent them from carrying out their biological function.
