6-alpha-Fluoro- isoflupredone is a synthetic androgen receptor agonist that has been used as an injectable anabolic steroid. It has been shown to have clinical efficacy in the treatment of breast cancer, prostate cancer, and other cancers. Isoflupredone binds to the androgen receptor with high affinity and specificity, which leads to increased protein synthesis in skeletal muscle cells. This drug also has a therapeutic effect on bone density due to its ability to inhibit the conversion of cholesterol into bile acids. 6-alpha-Fluoro- isoflupredone may be detected by gas chromatography with mass spectrometry (GCMS) or liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry (LCMS). The odorant binding assay can detect 6-alpha-Fluoro- isoflupredone at concentrations as low as 1 ng/mL.
