Description:

Furfuryl thioacetate is an ester compound with a chemical formula of C8H8O2S. It has a melting point of 8°C, and is soluble in organic solvents such as ether, benzene, chloroform, or acetone. Furfuryl thioacetate's acidic ph (pKa = 2) makes it useful as a coagulant in the food industry. Furfuryl thioacetate can be used as a hazardous substance to produce cinnamon oil when heated at high temperatures. Solid phase microextraction (SPME) was used to measure furfuryl thioacetate's significant activation for fatty acids and esters by measuring the changes in surface methodology. Furfuryl thioacetate has been shown to have functional groups of S-C-O and O-C-S. The structural formula for furfuryl thioacetate is FcOOCS.
