3-Fluorobenzyl chloride is a drug that has been developed for the treatment of cancer. It is a synthetic compound that inhibits the activity of kinase enzymes and is thought to be an effective inhibitor of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). 3-Fluorobenzyl chloride binds to the ATP binding site and prevents phosphorylation of tyrosine residues on EGFR. This inhibition leads to decreased cellular proliferation, which can lead to apoptosis in cancer cells. 3-Fluorobenzyl chloride has shown anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
