p-Fluoropropiophenone is a hydrocarbon solvent that is used in the production of piperazine and quinoxalines. It has potential use as a membrane transport agent and may be useful in the removal of hydrocarbons from oil spills. p-Fluoropropiophenone has been shown to have depressant activity in animal studies, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the uptake of sodium ions by nerve cells.
