Description:

Fmoc-Cys(Mbzl)-OH is a peptidomimetic that inhibits the activity of phosphatases. It is a potent inhibitor of growth factor phosphatases, and has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of cellular proteolytic enzymes. This drug also has potent inhibition against the most common type of phosphatase, protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B). Fmoc-Cys(Mbzl)-OH reversibly binds to PTP1B and blocks its activity. The drug also enhances epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) activation and epidermal growth by preventing EGFR dephosphorylation. This compound also has potential in strategies for cancer prevention and treatment due to its ability to inhibit tumor cell proliferation.
