4-Fluoro-2-nitrobenzaldehyde is a chemical compound that has a linker with two nitro groups. This compound is synthesized by the reaction of 4-fluoroaniline and benzaldehyde with nitric acid in the presence of mercury(II) chloride. It has been shown that this chemical inhibits ubiquinone oxidoreductase, an enzyme in the electron transport chain. 4-Fluoro-2-nitrobenzaldehyde has been used to create immunocompromised patients with life-threatening infections resistant to other drugs. The linker in this molecule allows for it to be attached to another molecule, such as protein or DNA, for use as a drug delivery system. This synthetic compound also shows potential as an anticancer agent due to its ability to inhibit cancer cell proliferation and induce apoptosis. Raman spectra were collected from this compound and show peaks at 167 cm−1 (N-H stretching), 896 cm
