N-alpha-Fmoc-Ndelta-Boc-L-ornithine (NDO) is a stable complex with the amino acid ornithine. It is a short, cyclic peptide that is a stereoselective inhibitor of melanocortin receptors. NDO has been shown to have no toxicity in animal models, and its safety profile has been evaluated in humans.
The biological function of NDO is not known, but it may be involved in regulating the death protein pathway. This molecule also can form complexes with other biologically active molecules such as cryptococcal neoformans, which may help to elucidate their function.
