N-(9-Fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl)amide is a leukocyte antigen that is involved in the binding of concanavalin A and other lectins. It is synthesized by solid-phase synthesis and benzylation of an amine with nitrobenzene. The N-(9-fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl)amide used in this study was obtained from commercial sources. It has been shown to have high affinity for HIV gp120, and also has antiviral activity against HIV in vitro. This molecule binds to the amines on peptides, which are then extracted using dispersive solid-phase extraction (DSPE). DSPE can be used for purification and analysis of biomolecules such as proteins, peptides, nucleic acids, lipids, and carbohydrates.
