- 4-nitrophenyl N~2~-[(9H-fluoren-9-ylmethoxy)carbonyl]asparaginate
N-alpha-Fmoc-L-asparagine 4-nitrophenyl ester is an amide that is synthesized from fluorescamine, p-nitrophenyl, and ethyl acetate. It can be used to produce a pentapeptide with the sequence of Gly-Glu-Ala-Gly. This pentapeptide has been shown to have immunosuppressive properties and may be useful in the treatment of inflammatory diseases such as asthma. The pentapeptide is synthesized by reacting 1-hydroxybenzotriazole (HOBt) and diethylamine in dimethylformamide (DMF) to form the tetrapeptide with the sequence of Nα-(1H)-FMOC-[L]-ASP-[Nα]pNP. The monomers are coupled using elemental analysis or ninhydrin or diethylamine for detection.
