Description

Z-4-Fluoro-L-phenylalanine is an amide derivative that inhibits the activity of the enzyme protease. It has antiviral activities against enterovirus and is a potent inhibitor of influenza virus. Z-4-Fluoro-L-phenylalanine inhibits the enzymatic activity of protease, an enzyme that breaks down proteins in cells, which leads to cell death by inhibiting protein synthesis. The compound also inhibits other enzymes such as aminopeptidases, serine proteases, and threonine proteases. Z-4-Fluoro-L-phenylalanine is potent at low concentrations and has been shown to be selective for certain types of proteases over others.
