Fmoc-1,2-diaminoethane·HCl is a synthetic small molecule that has been shown to inhibit the growth of blood vessels in vivo. The conformational properties of Fmoc-1,2-diaminoethane·HCl are important for its function. This compound has been shown to bind to the proteolytic site on plasminogen and inhibit the breakdown of fibrinogen. It also induces a shift in the equilibrium from plasminogen to plasmin and thereby inhibits angiogenesis. Fmoc-1,2-diaminoethane·HCl binds to the catalytic site of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and prevents its activation. Fmoc-1,2-diaminoethane·HCl has been shown to inhibit tumor growth by inhibiting protein synthesis mediated by cancer cells. This drug also blocks angiogenesis mediated by endothelial cells through an
