Fmoc-DL-homoproline is a chiral modifier that can be used to selectively modify chiral analytes. It has been shown to be effective in the separation of d-alanine and pipecolic acid with a chloride ionic liquid. The tert-butyl group is a chiral selector, which can be used to convert one enantiomer into the other by changing its orientation. Fmoc-DL-homoproline also has surfactant properties and can be used as a reactant for ionic liquids. This compound is sensitive to parameters such as temperature, pH, and solvent composition. Optimization studies have been performed on this compound in order to increase its sensitivity for use in analytical applications.
