Description

Fmoc-N-(2,4-dimethoxybenzyl)-glycine is a synthetic amino acid that is used in the synthesis of peptides. It has been shown to be expressed by bacteria and yeast, and it is also synthesized using chemical methods. Fmoc-N-(2,4-dimethoxybenzyl)-glycine has been used in titration calorimetry to measure the heat of reaction for biological systems. The peptide sequence can be determined by sequencing the gene that codes for it. The amino acid can be used as a starting point for the synthesis of a daptomycin analog. The synthesis of this molecule requires chemical ligation or solid-phase chemistry. Fmoc-N-(2,4-dimethoxybenzyl)-glycine is not active as an acetylcholine receptor agonist but may have antimicrobial properties due to its ability to form disulfide bonds with other proteins
