Description

7-Fluoro-1-tetralone is a potent antagonist of the neuropeptide receptor subtype NPY, which is abundant in the central nervous system. It has been shown to possess antipsychotic and anxiolytic properties. The compound is also an antagonist of 1-indanone, which is a potent agonist at the NPY receptor. 7-Fluoro-1-tetralone binds to the same region of NPY as 1-indanone and inhibits its interaction with other receptors. This, in turn, leads to reduced anxiety and psychotic symptoms. The compound was found to be effective in animal models for schizophrenia and anxiety disorders. In addition, 7-fluoro-1-tetralone has been shown to have nootropic effects on spatial memory and learning behavior in rats.br>br>
