8-Fluoro-4-chromanone is a propanoic acid that has a benzene ring and two carboxyl groups. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the two carboxyl groups is 180 degrees, which makes this molecule centrosymmetric. 8-Fluoro-4-chromanone also has an odd number of hydrogen bonds, which make it a dimer. This compound has been shown to have antibacterial properties against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
8-Fluoro-4-chromanone inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis, RNA synthesis, DNA synthesis, and cell division.
