Fmoc-(3S-)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid is a synthetic molecule that acts as an agonist at the benzodiazepine site on GABA receptors. It has been shown to be an effective anticancer agent in animal models of cancer. This drug has also been shown to have a protective effect against the development of colon cancer in mice by blocking chloride channels and reducing blood pressure. The impact of this drug on locomotor activity is unclear. Fmoc-(3S-)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid inhibits caspase 9 and induces cell death in human carcinoma cells lines.
