Description

Fmoc-1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid is a conformationally constrained analog of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid. It interacts with proteases and inhibits the activity of these enzymes. Fmoc-1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid has been found to inhibit the Alzheimer's disease enzyme β-secretase and has the potential to be developed into a therapeutic drug for neurodegenerative diseases. Research has shown that Fmoc-1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid is a lead compound for inhibitors of pathologically relevant proteases such as cathepsin D, cathepsin B, and papain.
