2-Formyl-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester is a molecule that has been shown to have potent inhibition of tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα). It is an amide with two stereoisomers, and it has been shown to be more effective in treating cancer when the S isomer is used. 2-Formyl-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester has been observed to exhibit antiangiogenic effects by inhibiting VEGF receptor 1, which blocks the growth of new blood vessels. The molecule has also been shown to inhibit the production of xanthine oxidase and nitric oxide synthase in glioblastoma cells. This drug is being studied for its potential use in treating inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.
