6-Fluorochromone-2-carboxylic acid is a synthetic compound. It has been used in the synthesis of 6-fluoro-3-indoxyl beta-D-galactopyranoside, a potent antituberculosis drug. This acid is also used as a desorption agent for solid samples in mass spectrometry. The acidic properties of this acid make it suitable for use as an intestinal wash and a low molecular weight solvent in organic synthesis.
