It binds to the active site of uPA, thereby preventing the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin, which is required for the digestion and degradation of blood clots. 1-Fluoro-3-iodobenzene (stabilized with Copper chip) has anticancer activity and may be a potential therapeutic agent for cancer treatment. The mechanism of inhibition is currently being studied.
