Product Information
1-Fluoropyridinium tetrafluoroborate is a nonpolar molecule with a carbonyl group. It has a constant boiling point of 157 °C and is soluble in nonpolar solvents. 1-Fluoropyridinium tetrafluoroborate is an acetonitrile adduct, which has been postulated to be the radical chain product of ethyl diazoacetate and hydrogen fluoride. The radical chain mechanism of 1-fluoropyridinium tetrafluoroborate may be due to hydrogen bonding between the hydroxyl group in the ethyl diazoacetate and the amine group in 1-fluoropyridinium tetrafluoroborate. Electrochemical studies have shown that this molecule has an oxidation potential of -1.4 volts vs Ag/AgCl reference electrode.
