This compound has three hydrogen bonds with other molecules, which are necessary for its biological activity. 3FMBA binds to the cisplatin binding site on DNA, preventing the formation of platinum-DNA adducts while retaining the ability to bind to nitro groups. The potential anticancer activity of this compound is due to its inhibition of topoisomerase II and DNA synthesis in cancer cells.
