Product Information
- alpha,alpha,alpha,6-Tetrafluoro-m-tolualdehyde
- 2-Fluoro-5-trifluoromethylbenzaldehyde
2-Fluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde is a fatty acid ester that has been shown to have bioactivities including cancer prevention and treatment. 2-Fluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells in vitro, with an IC50 of 0.3 μM (micro molar). This compound also inhibits the growth of glioma cells, with an IC50 of 0.2 μM (micro molar). The mechanism for this inhibition is not known. 2-Fluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde has been shown to interact with naphthalene, forming a dipole and catalyzing its conversion to 1,4-naphthoquinone. This reaction might be important for the drug's antitumor activity.
