4-Fluoro-2-methylaniline is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of aliphatic amines. It is used as a bronchodilator and an antihistamine in the treatment of asthma. 4-fluoro-2-methylaniline is also used for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchitis by blocking the release of histamine, which helps relax muscles in the airways. The molecular modeling studies have shown that this molecule has a high affinity for hydrogen fluoride, hydroxide solution, and nitro groups. This molecule can be synthesized from quinoline derivatives and sodium hydroxide solution in anhydrous acetonitrile with the help of hydrogen chloride gas.
